The invisible-brains-with-spinal-column-tails movie is "Fiend
Without a Face", still shown fairly often on TV in the UK. It's
wonderfully daft and yet, despite all its faults, still somehow
manages to impart a little of that unique SF frisson. "The Brain
from Planet Arrous/Arous(sp?)" was a different film made round about
the same time. As I remember, it was an invading alien in the form
of a disembodied brain which could exert mind control over its
victims, and is a much more run of the mill low budget Sci-Fi
B-movie.
