Network Bulletin No. 97-43
Date: August 8, 1997
Subject: Automated Copy Allotment System (ACAS)
Index term: Default quantity survey forms
The automated copy allotment system allows libraries to
select standard delivery quantities (default quantities) for
specific types of braille and recorded books (indicated by
distribution codes). The system is updated annually.
Production Control Section (PCS) has enclosed the following
items for the current update of the copy allotment system:
1. Survey forms listing the distribution codes and
present default quantities for your library
2. Definitions of the category portion of the
distribution code (The distribution code is made
up of a distribution category such as 330 or ADV,
and a format code such as RC for recorded
cassette.)
Please review the default quantity survey forms and clearly
mark the changes you want. The minimum default quantity for
all selections is one (1) copy. Maximum quantities for
various formats are listed in section 6.3.5 of the _Network
Library Manual_. If no changes are needed, please so
indicate and return the forms.
Subregional libraries should send a copy of the completed
selection form to their regional library. Regional
libraries must verify that the maximum number of
print/braille copies for your state does not exceed the
limit shown in the _Network Library Manual_.
Return all forms to PCS by September 19, 1997. You may send
your reply by fax to (202) 707-0711. Your newly selected
default quantities will become effective with the October
1997 copy allotment batch 10/01/97.
