Hello, American Memory Fellows, and welcome to our new listserv. I'm glad
to see so many of you using it already, and to find out what's happening
with your projects.
To keep the ball rolling on the Institute website, I've posted some
information on a couple of new collections that went online at the end of
August:
1) Taking the Long View: Panoramic Photos, 1851-1991 -- this collection is
great fun and quite comprehensive -- includes photos from all 50 states
(Warning: browsing through this one can be addictive!)
2) "Votes for Women" Suffrage Pictures, 1850-1920 -- 38 pictures from the
suffrage movements -- supplements the text collection called Votes For Women.
3) Panoramic Maps, 1847-1921 -- also at the end of August, a couple of
hundred additional birds-eye-view maps were put online, from almost every state.
Just released TODAY, September 8:
4) Words and Deeds in American History -- this is the sampling of 90
documents from the Manuscript Division, many of which you saw in your tour
of the Library. These are accompanied by substantial supporting information.
And for fun:
5) New Activities on The Learning Page:
The Big Picture -- a weekly jigsaw puzzle (uses Shockwave) built on a
monthly theme...
and a new History Mystery -- just click on the Activities button from the
Learning Page.
You'll find hotlinks for all of these in the Post-Institute Discussion on
Collections on the CCT website -- www.edc.org/CCT/NDL Give us your feedback!
Looking forward to keeping the discussions going...
Martha
