Government Documents Librarian

Roesch Library
The University of Dayton Libraries are seeking a Government Documents
Librarian. This information specialist directs the services and
resources of a selective federal depository collection. Reporting to
the Head of Client Services, the government documents librarian is part
of the Reference Team. Including six librarians and three staff, the
team provides reference service, research assistance, and bibliographic
instruction.
Responsibilities: provides reference assistance for the document and
general collections, directs the technical processing and maintenance of
government publications, evaluates and maintains government electronic
products, supervises a full-time employee, teaches library instruction,
maintains web pages, and performs collection development duties on
assigned subject areas. Some night and weekend work is required. This
is a tenure-track position. The University requires that librarians
fulfill faculty responsibilities including professional service,
research, and publication activities. The library allows some
reassigned time for these activities.
Required Qualifications: a Master of Library Science from an ALA
accredited school of library and information science; experience or
coursework with government documents; familiarity with reference sources
and electronic information delivery systems; familiarity with DOS,
Windows 3.1, and Windows 95 operating systems; ability to work within a
collegial and client-centered model of library service; excellent verbal
and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: knowledge
of HTML and applications of the WWW to research and reference;
familiarity with the MARC record format.
