It's uncanny! We are having the same problem here with AE, with our
large SGML files of a published edition of the Washington Papers. But we
get the same message not when we try to validate but when we try to
reopen an AE file. The error message is: "The instruction at 00495aca
referenced memory at 008bd20e. The memory could not be read from." And
then one is offered the opportunity to view a details list and then
close the application because it has performed an illegal operation. It
could be size, but someone here told me, rather, it might have something
to do with AE's reading of the DTD. We've not yet tried cutting the file
in half (it's large; 500 plus pages). One thing that does work is
reinstalling AE. We have to do that about every third or fourth file we
work on, but it always solves the problem (except for one of us who has
a glitchy computer). We're working on Windows 95.
