I have also had serious problems validating large files--not in the EAD dtd,
but in our own museum dtd, and in the CIMI dtd. In my experience, and
from talking to people at SQ, my guess is that it is not solely the size of
the file that is at issue, but also the density of the tagging. In documents
that had a great deal of tagging, I had to break them down into smaller
pieces--while those with minimal tagging came in with somewhat less
For one book project the (already parsed) text was only 511KB when I
brought it in, but had to be broken into two pieces for a successful import.
Other larger files came in with only the occasional whimper.

I are having some problems validating large files in Softquad's
Author/Editor and wondered if any others have suffered similar.
The file in question weighs in at 2.6MB, and when I try to validate I get a
message telling me that memory could not be read from, and then the
closes due to an illegal operation. Is there a limit to the size of file
that can be validated by this software, and if so does anyone have any
what it is?
