FLICC Meeting Announcement 98-5
Fall 1997 Internet Brown Bag Discussion Series
I: Web Creation Software (11/5/97)
What software programs are your colleagues using to create web pages? Come
discuss the pros and cons of different HTML editors and authoring systems,
learn who is having success with forms, who is
doing CGI and Java scripting. Have you created library pages or forms that
work well? Have a section of your site that is a good model? Send FLICC
the specific URL or copies of your code and we will
distribute copies of your work!
II: Pricing - Internet vs. Commercial Databases (12/1/97)
How are your colleagues deciding when to use Internet resources, when to
access commercial databases via the net, and when to go online the old
fashioned way? How are you controlling online costs? Is
the net really proving to be cheaper than traditional sources? Are the
subscription pricing plans that database vendors are offering proving to
be good deals? How are your agency users paying to use Internet
sources? Come share your librarys experience with making cost-benefit
tradeoffs in providing electronic resources.
