FLICC Orientations to National Libraries and Information Centers Series
National Library of Education
As part of a series of orientations to national libraries and information
centers, FLICC is offering an opportunity for federal librarians to become
better acquainted with the National Library of Education services. The
program will include:
Welcome & Introduction to the National Library of Education
Blane K. Dessy, Director
Presentation of the U.S. Department of Educations Virtual Library
Donna Timm, Internet Librarian, Internet Services
Presentation on the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC)
Lynn Smarte, Director, Access ERIC
Tour of the National Library of Education

1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. (registration begins at 12:30 p.m.)

The National Library of Education, 80 F Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.
20208. (Enter front doors and walk through the lobby past the
elevators; immediately before a set of glass doors, go into the room
on your right marked The Board Room.)
Directions
The National Library of Education is located two blocks from Union
Station. If you come by Metro--exit the Metro, cross First Street
(facing west); then immediately cross Massachusetts Avenue. Turn right
and walk (west) to the intersection of Massachusetts and North
Capitol Street; cross North Capitol Street, veer to the left onto F
Street; continue to 80 F Street.

Registration
Free, but advanced registration required. Call the FLICC office to
register: (202) 707-4800. Interpreting services for the deaf and
hearing impaired are available if requested five (5) business days in
advance of the event.
Cancellations
Registrants who find they are unable to attend should notify FLICC at
(202) 707-4800 to allow those on the waiting list to register.
Future Tours
Other orientation tours will be scheduled throughout 1997 and 1998,
including the Defense Technical Information Center, National
Technical Information Service, the Smithsonian Institution Libraries,
the National Agricultural Library, the Library of Congress, the
Government Printing Office, and the National Archives and Records
Administration.
