The Microsoft Corporate Archives is seeking an experienced individual
interested in overseeing the Collection Management functions for a
growing archival program situated in a dynamic, high-tech environment.

Reporting To:
Manager, Microsoft Corporate Archives
Description:
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of a diverse
corporate archival collection of artifacts, photographs, electronic
media and print materials, including but not limited to: appraisal,
acquisitions, preservation, access, bibliographic control, user
interface and system development.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing, enhancing and revising procedures that
relate to all aspects of collection management, including collection
development and access policies, preservation, security, processing and
storage.
Promote Microsoft's archival program and actively seek new acquisitions
by establishing relationships with executive offices and other key
individuals and groups, including Records Management and Legal.
Process executive level collections and Microsoft Confidential
materials.
Develop and track metrics for the collection, including accessions,
circulation, access and growth projections. Communicate activities in
meetings, presentations and reports.
Manage appraisal and processing functions and monitor the quality and
production of interns and vendors with a goal of zero defects. Conduct
vendor training as required and develop new procedures for the subject
analysis of material.
Evaluate automation tools and help drive the design and development of
innovative Web-based access systems for the archival collection.
Integrate new tools and workflow to improve processing productivity and
efficiency.
Reinforce departmental teamwork and group collaboration through close
coordination on procedures relating to acquisitions, access and the
processing of materials and workflow.
Maintain awareness of latest developments and technologies relating to
managing and preserving electronic media, adapting and integrating these
in relevant and cost-effective ways.
Contribute to the department's high standards for customer service and
information delivery.
Qualifications:
A minimum of two years archival experience, preferably in a business or
high technology environment. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to
innovative user access and customer service. Ability to manage
contingent staffing and multiple priorities is required. Familiarity
with electronic records and automated information management systems for
archival records is required. Candidate must demonstrate strong
communication skills, team orientation, flexibility, self-motivation and
creative thinking skills. Interest and knowledge in computer industry
history highly desirable. A Masters Degree in Library Science or a
relevant field required.
