Umberto,
Horatio Alger (1832-1899) wrote many books on the same theme;
poor boy makes good. His characters, such as Ragged Dick, were poor but
upright boys who through luck and personal courage, became men of power
and wealth. These are classics in American children's literature,
althrough fewer read these works today. I doubt they had much influence
outside of the United States, as they were definitely aimed at the market
for young boys in this country.

> "The Little Tailor" is just generic Horatio Alger, which
> is pretty generic itself.
Now who is this Horatio Alger?
