>I like the idea that the gods have personalities.
>Come on, NegaBurn! Whenever did gods have a personalities?
i also do not agree with this statement. not only are the greek and
roman gods filled with personality and faults (zeus certainly did get
around), but i also think mankinds fascination with jesus is also due
to his distinct "human" personality. God, who was jesus' father and
for christians is the almighty, etc., was never able to be loved and
cared for as much as jesus, because he was so distant. the name God
is not human, it has no distinct personality, and human beings cannot
ever be as close to him as jesus. jesus, who was given a human name
and traits, had a personality which was not like the soap operas
associated with greek gods, but effectively made him something we
humans could relate to, something we could worship, something we
could almost touch--not like the spiritual prescence of "God", who
still remains an enigma.
