Director of Library
UB invites applications and nominations for Director of Langsdale Library
with a knowledge of emerging technologies
to guide the library in an expanded vision for the future. A unique
institution in the University System of Maryland (USM), the UofB offers
instruction to upper-division undergraduate, graduate, and professional
students in business, liberal arts, and law. The University is served by
two libraries, Langsdale, and a separate Law School Library.
Users access Langsdale's 400,000 volumes through integrated systems shared
by 14 USM libraries, providing access to 2 mil.+ titles. In addition,
Langsdale has an extensive manuscript/archival collection. It provides
media services including the interactive distance learning program and
support for electronic classroom development.
Reporting to the Provost, the Director will lead a staff of 25 and provide
a key role in planning a proposed new facility.
Qualifications include a Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited
school, extensive (minimum of 7 years) academic library experience
including increasing management responsibility, a record of success in
providing quality service and resources, a commitment to emerging digital
technologies, and excellent communication skills.
Salary competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
