For the past year I have been writing an article in the montly magazine
"State" for State Department employees. The column has the scintillating
title of "Library Report." I wanted to call it "Books and Bytes" but the
editor won. So far I've written about the future of books,
ordering or reading books on the Internet, preservation of
electronic information, in-house repair of books (with photographs of
people at work), episodes in the history of the library, lists of
the most frequently circulated books, and quotes by Ralph J. Bunche, .
If any one of you out there writes columns for your customers regularly,
please let me know which topics you have written on and which ones seem
to interest your readers.
