This is an area in which there is little written. I strongly urge
you to make sure the presentations and results of your meeting are
published, either as an ALA document of government document. One of
the main problems with government libraries being contracted out are
the fact that each time the wheel is invented again. Please, please
make sure that the information is made available in printed form.
This infomration is much to valuable to become vaporware again.

This message is being post to the Army and Federal Libraries' listservs,
please forgive the duplication.
The Chair of the Outsourcing Task Force of the ALA has ask to have
information concerning the task force meetings during ALA Mid-winter
shared with as many librarians as possible.
Outsourcing is an issue that is of critical importance to our community.
The concern is no longer IF but WHEN will your organization see this as
an initiative for your library.
I encourage each and every Federal Librarian attending the ALA
mid-winter meetings in New Orleans to attend the task force meetings.
All task force meetings are open to the ALA membership, the agenda and
dates for the three meetings are provided in the message below. As a
community, we have a wealth of experience and lessons learned which will
greatly benefit the work of the task force.
I would also like to invite each of you to the Executive Board Meetings
of the Federal Librarian's Round Table (FLRT):
Sunday, 11 Jan, 2:00 - 5:30 p.m. Sheraton Hotel - St Charles A
Monday, 12 Jan, 10:30 - 12:30 Marriott - Bonaparte
