1. The Department of Computer and Information Science, in the Faculty of
Physics, Informatics and Mathematics, at the Norwegian University of
Science and Technology (NTNU) announces the following vacant associated
professorship in Information Management.
2. The Department has responsibility for the following disciplines:
Algorithm Construction, Artificial Intelligence, Database Systems, Computer
Architecture and Design, HCI, Graphics and Image Processing, Information
Management, Information Systems Engineering, Software Engineering.

The Associated Professorship will have specific responsibility for teaching
and research in the following fields
- Digital Libraries
- Storage and Retrieval of Multi-Media Information
- Datawarehousing
- Information and Knowledge Management in Information intensive,
distributed Organisations
3. The successful applicant for this position must able to document his/her
disciplinary qualifications in important fields within the discipline.
His/her individual work must document scientific expertise in one or more
parts of the discipline of Information Management.
4. Weight will be placed on pedagogical skills. Academic staff who are
employed without having a formal pedagogical qualification in
university-level teaching and are unable to document equivalent
qualifications, are required to successfully complete a recognized course
that gives a pedagogical qualification in university-level teaching within
two years of taking the appointment. The University offers such courses.
5. The Associated Professor is obliged to follow the regulations that
concern changes and developments within the discipline and/or the
organizational changes concerning activities at the University.
6. It is assumed that newly-employed staff in academic positions who do not
already master a Scandinavian language are to obtain within three years
knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at an equivalent
standard to level three in the Norwegian for Foreigners courses provided at
the Department of Applied Linguistics. The University provides such courses.
7. As NTNU would like to increase the percentage of females in academic
positions, women are invited to apply.
8. The position is remunerated according to wage level 46 on the Norwegian
State salary scale, monthly Nkr. 24.461,-

10. Each applicant for the position must send 5 copies of the application
with certified copies of certificates, testimonials and a list of academic
work, and each applicant must send 3 sets of their:
* Academic - published or unpublished - papers that has relevance to the
evaluation of the applicant's qualifications by the evaluation committee .
* A description of all the academic work that the applicant feels is most
significant and that he/she feels the evaluation committee should pay
particular attention to.
* A list of all publications with bibliographical references.
11. Joint work will be evaluated. If it is difficult to identify the
contributions from individuals in a joint piece of work, applicants are to
enclose a short descriptive summary of what he/she did in this connection.
