Having just won a fierce battle with WP7, I'm in a mood to take a few
minutes to muse over something I noticed a while ago and just haven't paid
attention to because it doesn't seem to have any practical implications --
but the operative word in that sentence may be "seem." I'd appreciate any
comments.
When I mark up a document in WP7, I run it through the verification
process in that program until it comes out error free.
Then when I save it, the program makes me run it through another
verification process which invariably tells me I haven't declared my
external entities (not true), and I ignore those error messages.
The final step is publishing in DynaText. In that process, the
"publishing" program usually points out errors left and right, then
publishes the document just fine, entities included.
My question: what does verification mean? Why does it seem to differ so
drastically (even in a single program) and at what point does
"non-compliance" really matter? I have my own ideas on this, but I wonder
what experience/observation/hard knowledge others have.
