Network Bulletin No. 98-10
Date: February 6, 1998
Subject: Magazines
Index term: _Muse_ and other magazines with small
subscriber levels
The first braille issue of the children's magazine, _Muse_,
has been shipped. Because the subscription base for _Muse_
was extremely small, NLS registered all former subscribers
to _Children's Digest_ as _Muse_ readers. A notice to this
effect was included with the first issue of _Muse_ sent to
former _Children's Digest_ subscribers. Both magazines are
written for children aged 6-14.
The CMLS contractor will send edit/update reports to all
affected libraries listing the subscribers automatically
added to the _Muse_ mailing list.
In order to generate interest in three other magazines whose
subscriber levels have been growing slowly, NLS will add an
announcement at the beginning of similar periodicals
alerting readers to the availability of the new magazines.
The announcements will be included in the next three issues
of each magazine. The affected magazines are:
