Special Collections Unit
Library & Information Services
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Coordinates the reference and out reach functions of the Special Collections
Unit. As a member of a unit responsible for rare books, manuscripts, and
institutional archives, the reference archivist will interact directly with
faculty, students, and the local community to promote use of the
collections. The successful applicant will be expected to take a creative
and dynamic approach to exploiting the benefits of technology and will work
closely with the Head of Library Systems to develop, maintain, and foster a
full range of electronic functions and services. He or she must have
excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the
ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety
of audiences.
Requires a bachelor's degree in history or related field and two years
experience in archives and records work or an equivalent combination of
education and experience. Master's degree in history, library and
information science, archival administration, or appropriate discipline
preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of database management systems, web
authoring tools, and digital scanning systems is essential. Closing date:
