Judith, I guess my original message was somewhat garbled. Here is the =
info. again on our presentations.
Bill and I presented together in Boston:
The American Memory Project: Using Online Resources of the Library of =
Congress for Classroom Instruction March 6, 1998 for the
29th Northeast Regional Conference on the Social Studies. The audience =
was Social Studies Educators and there were approx. 30+ participants (tiny =
room, all available seats taken).
We began with an overview of how to search the site, demonstrated several =
searches and then broke into 3 groups. The groups rotated thru Bill =
Tally's photo analysis (led by Bill F.), importing & manipulating images =
in Powerpoint and Word processing formats (led by Harlene) and the Port of =
Entry program.=20
We will be presenting a similar program at the Educational Media Associatio=
n of NJ's fall conference in October. Depending upon which day we =
present, the audience may include just media specialists and public =
librarians or also include principals, supervisors and superintendents.
In addition, we ran a 3 day (6 total hours) continuing education class =
through our county's Educational Technology Training Center. Participants =
included teachers (social studies, English, technology, architecture, =
child development, and art), librarians and support staff. The course =
title was: Online Resources for Classroom Instruction: Using the Library =
of Congress "American Memory" Project with Students. Dates: Feb 23, 25 =
and March 2. We had 13 participants. It was offered in our Instructional =
Media Center (da library!)
I also just gave a presentation to the Hunterdon County Librarians' =
Association. Basically a condensed version of our Boston presentation.
