if we're talking Humorous SF here, let me propose A.D.Foster's
Tran-Ky-Ky trilogy (THE DELUGE DRIVERS, MISSION TO MOULOKIN, the name
of the third escapes me now). The adventures of Ethan Frome Fortune, a
travelling galactic bagman on the ice planet Tran-Ky-Ky are
exhilarating. And some of Foster's stories from WITH FRIENDS LIKE
THESE... are so funny, too.
I like also the funny undertone of the SECTOR GENERAL series of James
White. Serious things but very light. >>
The First of the three Tran-Ky-ky novels is ICERIGGER... and i agree... also
the imagery of windblown sails on a 3-masted schooner hull riding on metal
blades running over an ocean of flat ice at high speeds is exhilarating!!!
The Icerigger would be a joy to ride on...
