This message is being posted to the EAD listserv and the Archives and
Archivists listserv. Apologies to those of you who subscribe to both.
I'm very pleased to announce that the Council of the Society of American
Archivists has approved the formation of an EAD Roundtable. Thanks to all
of you who responded to the petition I posted back in February!
The inaugural meeting of the Roundtable will be on Friday, September 4,
from 3:45-5:45 (during the roundtable meeting slot). The Roundtable is
intended to be an open forum for informal discussion and exchange of ideas
and experiences relating to EAD. We'll need to do a little business, like
naming a chair and a vice-chair, and deciding whether or not we want to
have a steering committee, a newsletter, a Web page, etc. I'll give a very
brief report on activities of the EAD Working Group, and then we'll open
the floor for questions and comments. If you have questions that you'd
specifically like to have addressed at the meeting, please send them to me.
Our Council liaison is Peter Hirtle.
Whether you are an EAD veteran, an EAD novice, or somewhere in between,
please plan to attend this important Roundtable meeting.
