Below is an interesting conference on the Federal Computer Incident Response
Capability. This group will provide you another source of help in dealing with
intrusion/hacking problems. As noted in the message please send all questions
and RSVPs to [log in to unmask] The meeting is at the GSA NCR Building (very
near L'Enfant Plaza).
The Federal Computer Incident Response Capability (FedCIRC) is a
collaborative partnership of computer incident response teams,
security and law enforcement professionals, private sector and
academia who work together to handle computer security incidents and
provide both proactive and reactive security services to the U.S.
Government.
The General Service Administration (GSA), Federal Technology Service
(FTS), Office of Information Security (OIS) will assume management of
the FedCIRC program on October 1, 1998 from the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) as it transitions from a pilot to an
operational incident response program.
An Agency Forum is being held to introduce your agency to the "new"
FedCIRC.
