You do make a good point. And, of course, one person's junk is another's
quality entertainment or "classic camp".
I think it would have been more noble still for them to go ahead and
create an SF network and show classic movies, such as
FORBIDDEN PLANET, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, and others, as well as
television series that most of us can agree (perhaps) are better than the
rest of the crop, such as TZ and OUTER LIMITS and maybe classic STAR TREK.
A couple of new anthology series might be just the thing to give non-print
SF just the shot in the arm it needs. These could feature weekly
adaptaions--more or less faithful adaptations--of SF stories. Is that too
much to ask for? At least we would have less to complain about.
