MARC Holdings Format: The Standard & Its Uses

This full-day workshop will examine and explore the USMARC Holdings
Format for serials. Many local online library systems use the holdings
standard and this will be demonstrated. Other possible uses of this
standard will also be discussed. Topics to be covered include
ANSI standard Z39.44-1986 (Serial holding statement)
USMARC Holdings Format
How to implement the holdings format
Prerequisites:
Cataloging Basics: Part I/OCLC-MARC Tags workshop and/or equivalent
experience and knowledge of AACR2R.
Instructor:
Sharon Wiles-Young, Lehigh University
Ms. Wiles-Young is currently the Team Leader for Information
Organization which includes responsibility for Technical Services,
Systems, and Government Documents. Prior to being named team leader,
she was the Serials Librarian for five years. During this time she was
responsible for the implementation of the Serials Control module and
USMARC holdings format in Lehigh's SIRSI library online system. Sharon
previously worked in Serials and Reference at Lafayette College.
