Hello!

The USMARC manual indicates that 020 (ISBN) is repeatable.
My question:
In practice, will their be records that contain more than one occurrence
of 020? What kind of records will these be?

A multipart item will often have different ISBNS:

v. 1-ISBN 1,
v. 2-ISBN 2,
v. 3-ISBN 3,
and an ISBN for the entire set considered as a whole.

Voila! One bibliographic record, 3 volumes, 4 ISBNs.
