Yes , there are.
Given below are the chances for occurrences:
1. ISBN for hard bound and another ISBN for paperback
for the same edition (monographs complete
in a single volume)
2. ISBN for multivolume set (all vols. Put together)
as well as separate ISBNs for each volume
3. combination of the two situations above, i.e.
a) Hardbound complete set
b) paperback complete set
c) Hardbound each volume
d) paperback each volume
Giving this type of ISBNs in the titles is a very regular
practice and also very much in accordance with the guidelines
laid out by the ISBN Agency. In fact, there can be more
such situations. These (3) are the more common ones.
