In the Beta EAD application guidelines there is a page that refers to a
mapping between ISAD(G) descriptive elements and EAD tags. We observe
that the ISAD(G) 3.1.1 element (reference codes) is mapped into the
<repository> tag, but in the tag library is the following:
"The istitution or agency responsible for providing intellectual access
to the materials being described".
Now, from our point of view, we noticed that there is an inconsistency
between this definition and the definition of the ISAD(G) 3.1.1 element.
Following our opinion, we chosen to use the <unitid> tag to describe
reference codes of the archival description described, but we are in
doubt that this is not conforming in the EAD purposes.
What is your thought about this trouble? Has in the new EAD 1.0 changed
something about it?
Thanks to all.
