Karen,
With respect to the following two messages, both are warnings and not fatal
to building your file (if warning is used in a conventional way):
SGML Parser: Unsupported feature at C:\WPDOCS\SGML\eadsgml.dcl, line 196 in
declaration parameter 88:
Character number 58 is not supported as an additional name character
SGML Parser: Unsupported feature at C:\WPDOCS\SGML\eadsgml.dcl, line 197 in
declaration parameter 90:
Character number 58 is not supported as an additional name character
What your parser is warning about is that it will not accept changes to the
SGML Syntax for Naming Rules, that is, what characters can be used in
element, entity, etc. names. XML assumes a change in the Reference Concrete
Syntax to allow use of the underscore and colon in names, and thus this
feature is changed in the SGML declaration for EAD. The colon only becomes
necessary if you are using the XLink features in EAD where some attribute
names use a colon. By default these features are switched "off" in the DTD.
One way or the other, though, since this is a warning, it is not the cause
of your build terminating. The reason for that comes in the next message,
which is an error message.
SGML Parser: SGML *error* at C:\WPDOCS\SGML\eadsgml.dcl, line 238 at record
end:
Document ended invalidly within prolog; parsing ended
This is a bit mysterious. Your software appears to expect the DTD
immediately following the SGML declaration in the SAME file, though the
fact it asks for the .dcl file separately makes this seem odd to me.
Has anyone successfully built an EAD association file for SGML Author for
Word 97?

described in the manual. The software asks for a .dot file (which I've
created) and a .dcl file. I downloaded a .dcl file for the EAD DTD off the
LC page, but when I try to create the Association file, the software gives
me the attached error message and refuses to create the Association file.
Can anyone who's done this give me some advice please?
