I think, long term, XSL is going to receive much more attention
than DSSSL both by commercial and freeware software developers.

In the short term however, there is more good DSSSL stuff than
there is good XSL stuff. There is now a FrameMaker back-end
for James Clark's DSSSL engine for example. As a result, a single
DSSSL stylesheet for EAD could allow generation of both
RTF and MIF. From there, good formatted plaintext, Postscript,
reasonable HTML or PDF is a mechanical exercise.

In summrary, I think XSL is the one with the future but
useful (free!) DSSSL stuff is here right now...
