PUBLIC LIBRARIES TO BE WIRED NATIONWIDE
The National Cable Television Association (NCTA) < http://www.ncta.com
>, based in Washington, plans to wire cable TV lines to public
libraries nationwide at no charge. The cable industry will also
provide cable modems to the libraries that can move text, voice and
pictures 50 to 100 times faster over the new cable TV lines. This
technology has already been implemented to 2,500 schools in the United
States.
