The EAD logo was designed by staff at the Library of Congress upon
suggestions from the EAD working group. The design was not registered
as a trade mark with the Patent and Trademark Office. (It is not
copyrightable since it does not fall under the auspices of copyright
law.) It was not LC's intent to try and register the logo as far
as I am aware. I am not sure a government agency can even register
a trade mark. (The law may exclude government trademarks. I'm
not familiar with that law.)
