> TOP33 USMARC elements with DC concordance
Since DC and DCC are so frequently used to refer to the Dewey Decimal
Classification, shouldn't we have another acronym for the Dublin Core,
perhaps DuCo?
> % Z TAG Element "Dublin Core"
>---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I suspect if a sample were done of recent records, 246 would join the
list. Most 740s are now 246s.
> 8.2% 830 Title of subordinate work (auth. controlled) RELATION
830, like 440, would be series title under authority control. A
subordinate work title would be in 740 or rarely 730. Older series
titles under authority control would be in 840. For statistical
purposes, 440/830/840 should probably be combined.
> 4% 520 brief abstract DESCRIPTION
More often known as Summary.
> 3.3% 505 Contents note (multivol works) DESCRIPTION
Single volume works may also have contents notes.
> 655 Genre as Subject SUBJECT
655 is Genre or form, *not* as subject. Works *about* a genre have the
term in 650. Does DuCo have no genre field? Or is everything assumed
to be a single genre?
It is interesting to learn that 810 is more prevalent than 800, series
under personal author, which did not make the list.
