You can do this in Word by using Edit/Replace -
enter this in the "Find What" box:
and enter nothing in the "Replace With" box. Check "Use Pattern Matching"
and click "replace all."
You might need to manually remove some things.
This will however only strip tags and leave you with a hodgepodge of text
which will have lost much of it's meaning, especially in container lists
which rely on indentation to convey archival hierarchy, not to mention
things like labels which are contained within tags. It would be possible to
write a macro or program to account for the hierarchy, adding 1 tab for
<c02> 2 tabs for <c03> etc., but there would be a lot of things to account
