I think one difference is that at 928 pages and US$27.50, fewer list
members have a common opportunity to discuss CRYPTONOMICON or other new
books, especially hardcovers, than movies, which are relatively equally
accessible, at least to the US listmembers.

happy to discuss books anytime, if only she could get caught up on her
reading. Current book is Maureen McHugh's MISSION CHILD, which is
proving a bit of a challenge but an interesting exercise
