hello Tone,

I am faced with exactly this same dilemma. We have just been including the
personal dates within <origination><persname> and not tagging them
separately because of the problem you outline about date not being allowed.
Similarly we have country or place of person, and likewise <geogname> is
not allowed in <persname>, so we have personal name/date/place which should
be together, but for now we keep it all undifferentiated in the <persname>
element. If anyone else has this problem (or a solution!) I'm sure we'd be
very interested to hear any ideas.
