Proposed EAD/Data Exchange Group

Following on from discussions at the Society of Archivists' annual
conference in Dublin, Ireland in September and at the recent EAD
European Users' Day in London, some members have decided to
seek the formation of a new special interest group within the
Society.  The proposed title for the group is the EAD/Data
Exchange Group.

It will serve to co-ordinate British and Irish contributions to
developments in data exchange, to feed into international decisions
on data content standards and, particularly, the ownership and
continuing maintenance of EAD.  It will bring together different
sectors of the archival community and will endeavour to ensure
mutual compatibility in implementation of standards.

A list of potential members is currently being compiled.   If you are
