To clarify-
Extensible Style Language has three parts-
XSLT which deals with transformations from one XML syntax to another or from
XML to HTML
XPath which provides a method for pointing to a particular portion of an XML
document
XSL itself- the parent document which deals principally with the XSL
formatting language.
Only the first two parts have been formally endorsed by the W3C as
Recommended Practice.
As to Microsoft, we shall see when they actually implement their promise to
bring their current implementation of XSL, which is now many draft versions
out of date, up to the final standard. A beta version of IE 5.5 has been
reported. Perhaps full support of XSLT and XPath will be found therein.
