Subject: Automated Copy Allotment System (ACAS)

As of December 31, 1999, NLS will no longer provide copy
allotment cards to Network libraries. Bibliographic
information on the most recent batches of NLS books is now
available on the Network Library Website. Any network
library with access to the Internet can select the NLS web
site at "http://www.loc.gov/pics/". If you have requested a
password from Mary Mohr at NLS, you may view or download the
bibliographic information and also select the number of
copies to be shipped for any title. Most network libraries
are already using this system.

If your library does not have web access, or you are not
able to use the NLS network library website for any reason,
you will still receive the default quantity of titles for
your library. However, we recommend that all libraries
avail themselves of this new technology as soon as possible.
