Position Purpose: This position exists to manage operations of the Minnesota Radio Talking Book Network, a closed-circuit radio reading service for persons who are blind, visually or physically disabled. This position manages the current programming including selection and scheduling of materials (newspapers, magazines, best-selling books) for broadcast 24 hours per day, seven days per week, so that current materials are aired at regular and appropriate times to meet the needs of the listeners. This position also supervises the Minnesota Dial-In News, which provides reading of daily and weekly newspapers via touch-tone telephone. The position provides overall supervision of six Radio Talking Book staff, two Dial-In News staff and over 300 volunteers. The position will manage a budget of $579,527 impacting on services for close to 7,500 Minnesota residents. The individual must be available to be on call and to work variable hours as needed to ensure appropriate coverage for continuous on-air broadcasting. Qualifications: Experience with digital broadcast technology is highly desirable. The selection process is an experience and training rating with points given for educational degrees in the areas of Communications, Radio/TV Production, Journalism, Speech/Theatre, English or broadcasting school, and experience in the areas of commercial or public radio or television either as broadcaster or professional supervision including scheduling, recruiting and training professional staff.
