NLS has been asked to announce the following vacancy:

Position:    Assistant Director

Location:    Tennessee State Library and Archives
Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped

Duties and Responsibilities:    Under general direction of
the Director of the Library for the Blind and Physically
handicapped (LBPH), this person is responsible for managing
daily onsite operations, including coordinating and
supervising circulation and reader advisory staff, and
planning, developing and implementing library programs.
This person will assist with developing, implementing and
monitoring an automated circulation system, compile
statistical data, and participate in collection development
and maintenance, including weeding and inventory functions.
Other duties include administering the LBPH program in the
absence of the Director.

Qualifications:   The successful candidate must have an ALA-
accredited MLS or equivalent from an accredited college or
university.  Five years' experience in professional library
work in increasingly responsible positions, knowledge of
library automation, and experience with online systems and
resources are required.  Preference will be given to those
with supervisory experience in a library for the blind and
physically handicapped or public library.

Salary:    $2,886 a month
