Howdy, I have been working on an XML schema for technical metadata for text. If you're interested, you can have a look at http://dlib.nyu.edu/textmd.xsd Comments on how this might be improved are welcome. There are a few design decisions in here that people might not approve (settling on IANA character set names, using ISO 639-2 languages instead of ethnologue, etc.), but I thought this was at least coherent enough to spark a discussion of how it might be improved. If nothing else, I've saved some people the trouble of putting the ISO 639-2 codes and IANA character set names in usable XML schema format. Enjoy.
