Technical Librarian,
DA-1410-II. This position serves as a librarian in Space and Naval
Warfare Systems Center San Diego’s technical library, which is located in
the Technical Information Division. The incumbent’s primary
responsibilities will be in managing the technical reports collection,
performing reference work, managing cataloging policies and workflow for
all types of publications, and being the library’s focal point for the
integrated library system. Work in the technical reports area will
include, but not be limited to, collection development and maintenance,
and development and implementation of internal library procedures for
handling limited-access information. Work in reference will
include, but not be limited to, answering questions or locating
information on a particular topic in response to a user’s request,
performing mediated literature searches, identifying sources of
information, and working with other departments or agencies to obtain
information. Other technical library functions will include
electronic journals; user education; support of circulation, interlibrary
loan, maps and charts, print serials; and representing the library at
professional library meetings as appropriate.
