Dear PCC Participants:

The summer heat is on! and here is the "coolest" news to refresh
your PCC cocktail.

The summary of the PCC Participants' Meeting
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/pccpart02a.html in Atlanta is now
posted. These highlights offer an evaluation of the Program's
achievements of its 10 year existence as well as featuring a PCC "Family
Album" of photographs depicting many of the Program's finest during
those candid ALA moments, training venues, and PCC Social gatherings.
        Summaries of the BIBCO-At-Large
http://lcweb.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/bibco/bibcoatlarge02a.html and the
CONSER-At-Large meeting
http://lcweb.loc.gov/acq/conser/at-largesummary06-02.html have now
been posted to the Web. Each of the respective documents provides the
highlights of the PCC component "At-Large" programs during ALA Annual
Conference.
The notes of the PCC Standing Committee on Training (SCT) and
the PCC Standing Committee on Automation (SCA) are offerred through the
PCC Home Page and are located at:
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/sct02a.html and
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/sca02a.html respectively. Each of the
links offers a summary of the Standing Committee meeting that took place
during the ALA Annual meeting in Atlanta.
The current prototype of the Integrating Resources (IR) workshop
is now available via the BIBCO Home Page at:
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/bibco/irtrng702.html . It is an update
to the first Integrating Resources (IR) prototype workshop that was held
at the PCC Operations Committees meetings in May 2002. The workshop
materials have been developed by Steven J. Miller, University of
Wisconsin--Milwaukee under the auspices of the BIBCO and CONSER
Programs. A Powerpoint presentation for use in local and regional basic
IR cataloging training is being made available to BIBCO and CONSER
participants in anticipation of IR implementation scheduled for December
1, 2002. Contact Ana Cristan, BIBCO Coordinator, at [log in to unmask] for
further information.
        The PCC Midyear Program statistics
(http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/stats/stats.html) are now available
and are arranged alphabetically by library name. 2002 statistics for
program participants in funnel projects as well as statistics for
international partners have also been published.
The .pdf-formatted Descriptive Cataloging Manual (DCM) Z1
(Yellow Pages), and the LC Supplement Guidelines to the MARC 21
Authority Format, 2002 ed. (Blue pages) have now been posted to the NACO
Home Page (http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco.html) and are available
for downloading. This up-to-date documentation is a mandatory
"must-have" for all NACO participants! A survey of PCC liaisons is
being undertaken to determine future means of document delivery. Please
watch your email in-boxes for this PCC poll.
A link to LC's Web authorities (http://authorities.loc.gov/) has
now been made from the PCC Home Page. You can use the Library of
Congress authorities to browse and display authority records for Subject
(both approved and tenative), Name, Title and Name/Title combinations.
An FAQ is available to answer any questions for users of the Web
interface.
As usual practice, please send any changes in contact
information directly to John N. Mitchell in the Cooperative Cataloging
Team at ( [log in to unmask] ).

                                Respectfully,
                                John N. Mitchell
