Monday, July 29, 2002 Dear PCC Participants: The summer heat is on! and here is the "coolest" news to refresh your PCC cocktail. The summary of the PCC Participants' Meeting http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/pccpart02a.html in Atlanta is now posted. These highlights offer an evaluation of the Program's achievements of its 10 year existence as well as featuring a PCC "Family Album" of photographs depicting many of the Program's finest during those candid ALA moments, training venues, and PCC Social gatherings. Summaries of the BIBCO-At-Large http://lcweb.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/bibco/bibcoatlarge02a.html and the CONSER-At-Large meeting http://lcweb.loc.gov/acq/conser/at-largesummary06-02.html have now been posted to the Web. Each of the respective documents provides the highlights of the PCC component "At-Large" programs during ALA Annual Conference. The notes of the PCC Standing Committee on Training (SCT) and the PCC Standing Committee on Automation (SCA) are offerred through the PCC Home Page and are located at: http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/sct02a.html and http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/sca02a.html respectively. Each of the links offers a summary of the Standing Committee meeting that took place during the ALA Annual meeting in Atlanta. The current prototype of the Integrating Resources (IR) workshop is now available via the BIBCO Home Page at: http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/bibco/irtrng702.html . It is an update to the first Integrating Resources (IR) prototype workshop that was held at the PCC Operations Committees meetings in May 2002. The workshop materials have been developed by Steven J. Miller, University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee under the auspices of the BIBCO and CONSER Programs. A Powerpoint presentation for use in local and regional basic IR cataloging training is being made available to BIBCO and CONSER participants in anticipation of IR implementation scheduled for December 1, 2002. The PCC Midyear Program statistics (http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/stats/stats.html) are now available and are arranged alphabetically by library name. 2002 statistics for program participants in funnel projects as well as statistics for international partners have also been published. The .pdf-formatted Descriptive Cataloging Manual (DCM) Z1 (Yellow Pages), and the LC Supplement Guidelines to the MARC 21 Authority Format, 2002 ed. (Blue pages) have now been posted to the NACO Home Page (http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco.html) and are available for downloading. This up-to-date documentation is a mandatory "must-have" for all NACO participants! A survey of PCC liaisons is being undertaken to determine future means of document delivery. Please watch your email in-boxes for this PCC poll. A link to LC's Web authorities (http://authorities.loc.gov/) has now been made from the PCC Home Page. You can use the Library of Congress authorities to browse and display authority records for Subject (both approved and tenative), Name, Title and Name/Title combinations.
