I don't have any interest in supporting an index that only allows single term searches.  That's just plain stupid and a misinterpretation of the intentions of the Bath folks.  Why would one ever want to prohibit searches with more than one word in them?
 
Bath searches work just fine in Word indexes as I've described them.

Or do we mean an index that supports single-word search, like Bath?

If we want the DC "non-string" index (whatever we call it) to support multiple word searches then we need to call one of these (DC or Bath) something else.
