Dialog has some interesting upcoming presentations, training classes and
brown bags--from digital libraries to homeland security to patent
competitive intelligence-- that you may be interested in attending.  These
are at the Dialog Arlington Training Center or at the Library of Congress as
noted and RSVP instructions are included with each summary.  You may have
seen an earlier version of this list.  This is expanded and includes all

Dialog's IntraIntelligence Presentation-Thursday, November 7, 2002,
9:30-11:30 at the Madison Bldg., Library of Congress
        Join Dialog and representatives from the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) for a presentation and demonstrations of Dialog's
IntraIntelligence solutions and the EPA Desktop Library.  This is an encore
presentation with new information including our new Homeland Security
Solution.  IntraIntelligence is a suite of tools that integrates Dialog
content into an agency's intranet. Tools and features include search forms,
alert delivery to intranets, saved search links, e-journal linking, document
delivery, Web-based access to CD-ROMS, and NewsEdge e-content. Following an
introduction to IntraIntelligence, Richard Huffine and Lucy Park from the
EPA will demonstrate and discuss how they have
integrated Dialog content into the EPA Desktop Library.

Product Patent Identification, Expiration, Extensions and Market Exclusivity
Brown Bag Seminar-Friday, November 8, 2002,  12:00-1:30 at Dialog in
Arlington, VA
        Join Ric Snead, Sr. Applications Specialist and Patent Agent, for a
brownbag session that covers the challenges faced in determining when a
pharmaceutical will come off patent internationally. Topics include:
determining the link between a product and its patent(s); understanding
international patent families and the significance of the priority patent
application; searching patent expirations and patent extensions with respect
to US, Europe and Japan.  In the process we will explore a variety of
pharmaceutical, regulatory, patent, trademark and business sources and see
how each lends value to determining a pharmaceutical's market exclusivity.

Search Basics Using DialogWeb, Tuesday, November 12, 2002,  9:00-12:30 at
Dialog in Arlington, VA
        This half-day seminar teaches Dialog basics using the DialogWeb
interface. This seminar is designed for customers who are getting started on
Dialog and plan to use the Web as their search vehicle. It can also be used
for customers who are shifting to the Web for searching and need a quick

Developing Dialog Searching Expertise, Advanced, Wednesday, November 13,

        Experienced Dialog searchers are introduced to the features and

this 3-hour class, explore the power of Dialog's data analysis tool (RANK);
customized output options: (PRINT and REPORT); working with multi-page

Research Expertise, this 3-hour class presents numerous examples of mining
patent literature for competitive intelligence. Topics include: tracking
international patenting activities; locating citing and cited patents;
tracking a company's patent licensing activities; identifying any pending
patent litigation a company may be involved in; and using business
literature for locating information about patenting activities. Applications
