I found another academic title on the topic see, Science Fantasy and Visions of Cosmic Religion by William Mountcastle. This text has specific chapters on the themes you mentioned. In the fictional arena you should see Doris Lessing's Canopus on Archives. She's a Westernized Sufi, but the books follow the theme of ETs, redemption and Cosmic Evolution. Also see Jesus on Mars by Philip Jose Farmer. I haven't read this in years and it's nowhere to be found in my library. Tab
