A message from the National Library of Wales on headings for Welsh
governmental bodies:

In 2002 the Welsh National Assembly named its executive the "Welsh
Assembly Government". Until this, all Welsh governmental publications
had been issued by the National Assembly. Publications of the Executive
will now be issued by the Welsh Assembly Government.

When we first established the heading "Wales. National Assembly" we
decided to always establish subordinate headings through the heading
"Wales. National Assembly." However, following Scotland's example, we
have decided to establish the Welsh Assembly Government directly under
Wales, i.e., "Wales. Welsh Assembly Government". Subordinate bodies to
the Welsh Assembly Government will also usually be established directly
under Wales, not through "Wales. Welsh Assembly Government".

National Assembly headings already established will (with some
exceptions) remain unchanged. Since it looks like the bulk of the
Departmental material from now on will be published by or under the
umbrella of the Welsh Assembly Government, this change in approach
should cause far fewer problems.
