Deaf Information Resources Workshop for Librarians
     Friday September 19th, 2003
8:45 am-12:30 pm

TOPIC:  This workshop will present information resources that are used to research topics related to deafness. Because much of the research material related to deafness is tied to the history of people who are deaf and the institutions that have supported them, the workshop will be presented from a historical perspective, beginning with a brief history of Gallaudet University and schools for the deaf. How to find information for research topics related to deafness such as psychology, education, biography, history, sociology and linguistics will occupy center stage. Specific resources, both print and electronic, will be recommended, as well as the best way to use them.

FORMAT: Registration begins at 8:45am.  A half-day workshop from 9 am to 12:30 pm. There will be a 15 minute break.  The workshop will conclude with an optional brief tour of the Gallaudet University Library and the Archives beginning at 12:30.
