Definitely, but considering that there would still be scanning of the film (albeit, that may be done adequately by the lab), you are proposing more time and/or cost - substantially more. It is true that there are professional digital cameras with excellent properties - notably those using Canon and Nikon lenses for 35-mm cameras. Again, the question is cost.
