Probably. Perhaps Ken's figures were based on Internet use or
something.

You can be sure that with Ken's professional linguistic background
with North American languages, he's not going to belittle any North
American language,

It was a throwaway remark at the start of a ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG20
meeting, but based on something he'd seen.
